I be versed traditionally shock collars are not supposed to be used for separation anxiety vocalizations, but for annoying ticks like barking at squirrels, etc. But I'm current to lay out my case, and would love some feedback. I've asked a question similar to this a few days ago, but there are some new wrinkles.
My dog is a 60lb conduct mix. He ONLY barks when my girlfriend and I are both gone, and I THINK it's only during evening hours. We both are away at grad classes during unique times during the week, so he's never alone for more than a few hours. Regardless, either the people on the floor below us are at work, or he doesn't bark, because they have only complained once about him barking during the day while we're gone. The problems are Fri/Sat nights when we go out, and the ppl below us occupation early Sat/Sun mornings.
His sep. anxiety is definitly on the way out. He can totally tolerate being in other rooms behind closed doors when we're here. When we take back, he's a little wound up for MAYBE 60 seconds or so, then he'll go lay down and relax. I've done my true leaving routine, and sat in the hallway at the bottom of the first floor (I live on the 3rd floor) for 45 minutes and heard NOTHING. Sometimes, when I get him the excellent bone, I know he's done nothing but work on it because he's still working on it when I come back in. There just seems to be an issue on evenings when we both make. I wouldn't even consider it a problem if I didn't have others to accomodate, because I know that he would probably piecemeal settle down and not vocalize once he gets used to us leaving. (We've only had him for a few weeks!!)
So we bought the shock collar. It's not the lone treatment we'll be using. We'll still give him liberating remedy before we leave. We'll still at least walk him before we leave, if not work him on a long run or bike ride. We'll still hustle off a kong with awesome goodies, or give him a sweet pig ankle. We'll still pin up the sheets over the window so he can't look casing, and we'll still leave the music on the TV. It's just that sometimes, all of that still isn't enough or it isn't the right bone, and he may bark for several minutes to perchance an hour on end when we're out on a Friday night. I figure that it HAS to work as the last line of defense. He's not a red zone disassociation anxiety case. I think (and of course my neighbor thinks!) that it's worth a shot. A keen slap on the wrist should settle him down quickly and efficiently, and encourage less barking and more chewing on the bones I've conceded him.
Any thoughts? Also, will chewing/swallowing trigger a shock by any chance?
Another thing, EVERYONE encourages people to display the first few times your dog gets shocked to make sure he/she doesn't have an episode. He only barks when we're gone! The most successfully we can do is to set up our cell phone on speaker in the room w/ him, and to walk around the house or something and have an ongoing call to listen in. I tried it on myself twice and it didn't blister or blaze like some of the defective ones did in the product reviews. If he yelps and it sets off another shock and he goes imbecilic, we could be there immediately, but not RIGHT there.
These things got awesome reviews...80% got 4/5 or 5/5 stars, and only 10% got 1/5...most were complaints about battery soul, etc. One complaint about the shock being a little much for a small dog, but I think it's worth a shot. I mean there were some bigger dogs that got 3 or 4 shocks, and the problems stopped then and there. Any ideas?
Note: We've had him for 3 weeks, and if I withdraw, he's three for three on Friday nights and 2/3 on Saturday nights for causing us to come home primitive. Only once during the week, not total. I came really close to getting the ultrasound collar instead, but I felt it had a low endanger of success. Also, it's not a remote shock collar. It has a probe that senses vibrations in the dog's vocal cords and only delivers a horrify for barks, and nothing else. The shock (punishment) is delivered IMMEDIATELY, which in terms of behavior mod is good.

Or adding a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar to your pet's the finest provdes needed nutrients to its diet, gives it a shinier, healthier-looking coat, and acts as a authentic deterrent to fleas and ticks. Add a little to your pet's shampoo too.

Help! My beautiful cocker has hot spots all the time. What can I do?
Courtney is 2 1/2 years old. She keeps getting detestable hot spots. I take her to the vet. She gets shots and prednisone pills. I keep her on Frontline Plus. Recently, Frontline has not done a laudatory job. She and the rest of my pets keep getting ticks. This last time, the tick left a fingertip size hole about 1/16th inch intent. I discovered the nasty hole when I was giving her a bath. I'll spare you the gruesome details, but let's reasonable say, it was pretty nasty and infected. I called the doc again and they put her on more prednisone and cipro antibiotic. I noticed this morning that she has another hot soil coming. I have fed her quality food since I first brought her home. Currently she is on the venison and rice formula.
What else can I do for my rarely girl? I love her and hate to see her going through this every few days.
I have tried multiple remedies and nothing seems to work from pills, shampoos, creams, etc. I'm at my wits end. Domestics!
Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
Cockers are decumbent to skin infections and ear infections. Ask your vet to test her for allergies. I had a Cocker that had the same symptoms as yours. The vet tested her and sure enough, she had allergies. I had to give her shots for it.
In the meantime, arrange some white rice, minute rice is fine. Boil some chicken and shred it up. Mix the chicken with the rice and eat her only this. Nothing else for flavor. This will not be a forever cure, but it should help with the skin problem until you can get her tested. Your vet may want to put her on a special aliment if it turns out that she has allergies. Good luck

Is there a home remedy that can be used to treat a yeast infection in my dog's ear?
I discern it isn't mites because I have treated him several times and he still scratches at his ear. I've checked for anything unusual such as a tick or an abrasion.
I researched the internet and found a method of water and vinegar 50:50. It didn't work. I went to the vet's to get Ottomax. That works much superiority. Ask your vet.

I think my husband has lyme disease, we feel so lost!?
I would sweetheart to hear some things from people who have or know others who have lyme disease. Heres the situation:
My husband got a tick mouthful back in may, we thought nothing of it. He got a strange rash- we again thought nothing of it :(. A few months back my husband got numbness in his legs so he went to the doctors. The doc found enzymes in his blood striking her it could be lyme. So she put him on doxycycline for 29 days. He went off it, had no symptoms for a couple of weeks and is now getting symptoms again so he went to get a blood prove to get the actual lyme disease blood test rather than just a general blood test. We dont be familiar with the results yet but we're both so very concerned. His eye sight is bothering him and he is in extreme pain! He is also extremely fatigued.
Heres some questions I have: what are wish term symptoms if you catch it too late?
Is there any homeopathic remedies to follow?
Should we see a doctor that studies things other than western medcene or one certified for lyme?
Is there any cloth books out there?
Lyme disability is in the eye of a huge controversy in the medical world. your best defense right now is information--lots of it. I commend you go to the following websites first:
http://www.lymedisease.org
http://www.canlyme.com
http://www.lymenet.org
http://www.lymeinfo.net
http://www.lymediseaseassociation.org
http://www.ilads.org
http://www.betterhealthguy.com
Then I back getting ahold of this book: "The Lyme Disease Solution," by Dr. Kenneth Singleton.
Then I put forward you find yourself an MD affilitated with ILADS (see website above) to be properly evaluated for Lyme and OTHER tick-borne infections (there are many). Best of good fortune to you.

Tick problem! Any remedies?
We moved to a steading and my dogs and cats are suddenly FULL of ticks. It doesnt help pulling them off, I do this EVERY day! Any suggestions to get them off and keep them off?
You could spread diotomacious Terra around, but that would get expensive. Try putting powdered yeast (comes in little yellow pkgs at the grocery department store) in their food. I know it works w/fleas; something about the smell that the fleas and maybe ticks don't like.
Also, your vet can transfer you several kinds of flea and tick preventatives you put on your dog......chemicals, though, but they work!
Good luck cuz tick diseases are fun for dogs.

The Work of the Pastor [2] Banner of Truth
WHOM DO WE Convoy? Whom do we pastor? We evangelize the community; we pastor the congregation.
WE PASTOR OURSELVES Paul in his farewell to the elders in Ephesus exhorts them to keep regard over themselves ( Acts 20:28). That is to be their first priority, and then he adds, 'and all the flock over which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of the church of God', but the concentrate is first on the elders’ self-watch. What a tragedy to hear a man saying, 'I watched the flock, but I failed to cautious of myself. I gave other people fine advice about problems. I even gave fellow ministers who called me for assistant wise counsels and yet I failed to exhort my own heart.'
What is the greatest need of the flock in Aberystwyth? That I keep chaperon over myself. If we have a loving, lingering attachment to some sins, not willing to mortify them or confess them to God, then God will chastise us in diverse ways. There will be heartache in our lives or in the life of the church; there will be unanswered prayer. An echo of the troubles we are causing will be found in those in our own spheres. We may have accuracy on our lips, but unless the truth guards our hearts and lives we cannot enjoy the Lord’s enriching prayer. That blessing is God’s new covenant commitment to do what he has promised to do.
Does the blessing of God resting on us characterize our lives now? Is our rapture and even amazement in seeing the promises of God fulfilled in our experience and in the life of the church again
